These days

That's what he's been doing these days. Hangin out, crying, sleeping, crying, eating, crying, but also a whole lot of smiling. Go ahead, click on the picture to see a close up. He is just as cute when he cries.
For the past month or so he's shown interest in toys, and just colorful things in general. I lay him on the ground and set toys all around him so when he swings his arms like crazy, he can feel the toys and make them rattle and stuff. I caught him one day laying there (well there's not much he can do about that) and he was turned to one of the toys and smiling and jabbering. So cute.
I also catch him doing this.
He stretches his arms out, and holds them there for awhile. Talk about arm and shoulder strength! haha He's posing like a cheerleader. Oh I sure hope he doesn't pursue that route. We're rooting for a basketball, baseball, or football player or all 3!

Well, TONIGHT is the big Hobson Family Pumpkin Carving Contest! There's lot of competition this year, so we'll see who pulls through to win! Paxton has won the last 3 years, but EVERYONE is hoping to shut him down this year. I'll be sure to post pics of all the pumpkins and who won 1st, 2nd, 3rd & so on.
Also, today I am trying a new cookie recipe that I found on the Food Network. It has Nutella in it. We'll see how it tastes.

11 weeks

Ty is 11 weeks old today. Last night was his first time sleeping in his crib in his own room. He did great! I still am trying to figure out how to get him to sleep longer though. He's sleeping 7 hours before he wakes up to eat, but I'm wanting him to sleep like 10 hours. I'm hoping he'll just grow into it I guess...

Please..

"Please.. no pictures."
"Fine, just take one."

He's in the zone in one of these...
Two weekends ago, we went to the Peterbilt plant. They were having an open house type thing with free barbeque ! Yum! We got to walk around the plant and kind of see step by step how the trucks are made! Since Paxton had been there several times to audit the inventory, he knew how it all worked. So we walked around and he explained everything. It was pretty cool!

Ty is getting bigger and cuter! He loves to play with his toys. Just this morning I laid him on the ground and put toys around him. He laid there for 45 minutes looking at the toys, talking to them, and trying to hit them with his arms that he still cannot control. But he's trying.
He is almost 11 weeks. He has been sleeping a lot longer through the night now!!! Very exciting. The first time he slept through most of the night was last Monday- I think?? (I need to keep record of these things) He slept from 9:30pm til 5:45 am! I kept waking up so surprised he still hadn't woken up! It was bittersweet. I want him to sleep through the night, but I was just about to burst- if ya know what I mean. He has slept 7-8 hours for the past 2 nights, and one other night last week.
I am attempting to start him on a more structured schedule. Right now, he has not been taking naps at the same time everyday. He does not wake up at the same time every morning, so he eats at different times and then takes naps at different times. I just want to have more of schedule for myself- so I know when he'll be down for his naps. I guess it'll just kinda fall into place. We'll see.
Here are some more pics of Ty!

Superman! He's got some strong abs.
Isn't he just so scrumptious?! I love him!

Tyler, TX

Two weekends ago, we went to Tyler to visit Paxton's family. We got to visit with his dad, grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousins. And we got to meet the newest addition- Lane. What a cutie. Lane is just 4 days older than Ty. It was fun to see another baby Ty's age. They are both exactly the same. haha.
Lane
I got to go to Canton with Jenny, the mother of baby Lane. That was so much fun. I got a cool sign for the home that says "HOBSON established 2006". Canton is just so amazing and overwhelming. I'm glad to got to go.
Ty tried on this adorable hat. I want one like this now!!! He looked so cute, but I don't know if he liked it that much.
He got to dress up for church. We were able to go to baby Lane's christening. Glad we could be there.

Paxton went dove hunting Saturday morning with his cousins. They had a great time camping over night so they could get up at dawn to start hunting. Too bad he got the kiddie sleeping bag with Lion King on it. I think he was a little cold. haha.
We had a really great time visiting and being with his family.

Anniversary & things

So, for our anniversary we went out to eat at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant... an expensive one at that. Yikes! But it was absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed every bite... except for the ravioli. Never been a fan of those. Anyway, we went to a fondue restaurant for our 1st Anniversary, so I wanted to go again. We took lots of goofy pictures. We had a fun time.

Pax had to make fun of me. Last time we were eating fondue, he took a picture of me with cheese all in my teeth. He did a little exaggeration here... like he always does.
I completely spaced the fact that there is a lot of garlic put into the cheese and the oil that you cook your entrees in. Yeah- Ty didn't like that too much. I had a hard time getting him to take my milk afterward. Poor fella. Poor me! Ugh--very stressful. But we got through it.

My favorite part of the whole meal was, of course, the dessert. CHOCOLATE! We picked a dark chocolate/peanut butter fondue. Then they give you a big plate of food to dip like cheesecake, brownies, marshmallows, rice krispie treats, strawberries, bananas, etc. We downed the whole thing. Yup. Delish!
I love you Pax!

Ty went to the doc today for his 2 month check-up and got 3 immunization shots! Poor little man. He screamed and screamed, but after a bit of Tylenol and a little meal, he's snoozin away, trying to recover.
Here are his stats:
Height: 22 inches, 25th percentile
Weight: 12 lbs, 50th percentile
Head circumference: 15 3/4, 50th percentile
He's running about average... he's just my perfect little man. I love him so much. He is a really happy baby, and has started talking and smiling a LOT more. He has the cutest and biggest smile. I try to get it on camera, but every time I pull it out, he stares at it and won't do anything else.
As you can tell, he's filling out some more. He was such a skinny little baby when he was born, but now he's got a cute double/triple chin. Love it.

October 6th

Today is our anniversary. We've been married 3 years now...
Paxton is such a great husband. He is very caring and thoughtful of my needs. He is a really hard worker and has to stay busy around the house. He keeps me spiritually motivated and on track doing the right things. I lean on him for comfort, advice, security, and encouragement. He makes me laugh every single day. There truly is never a dull moment in our home. He is a wonderful, helpful, loving, new father. I am lucky to have him and will never let him go.
I love you Pax.

Smiles & Laughs

Here's the video of Ty smiling and laughing, and a cute sneeze at the end. This is mostly for my family, since they all live so far away and haven't seen him in person. I know a lot of it is just him sitting there, but you have to wait awhile to get him to smile and laugh. It's worth it.
And-- don't listen to me on the video. I'm a dork.

Precious

Ty took a nap with me the other day in the bed. Luckily I woke up before he did, or else I wouldn't have gotten this adorable shot.
One elbow was leaning on me, but when I got up, he stayed there, balancing on one elbow. haha- very funny.
I'm trying to upload a video I got of him smiling and laughing, but it doesn't seem to work. I need to change the format first. Sounds like something Paxton will have to do. :)

Ty's blessing day

This past Sunday, Paxton was able to give Ty a baby blessing in church. We got him all dressed up and looking adorable. He did great during the prayer, but right when Paxton came and sat down by me, he started crying. Perfect timing.
It was great to have Paxton's family and a bunch of our close friends there for the blessing. Thank you everyone for coming! We missed all of my family. Please come and visit us! I know it'd probably be easier if I came there since you are all within 4 hours of each other, but I want you to come here. :)
After church, we invited everyone over to our home to visit and see Ty a little more. Ty decided to sleep during half of the party, and eat during the other half. I guess that is okay since he's been sick with a cold for the past 5-6 days. Poor guy. But I made sure everyone put on hand sanitizer before they got close to Ty. I think he is finally getting better. We are sucking out more and more snot from his nose every day, and he doesn't sound as stuffy as much.
Here are some adorable pictures of the day. We totally forgot to take pictures at the church... dumb... so we got some afterward. I wish I would've taken pictures at our little "get together" at our home. I guess I was too busy chatting away... (and making sure my house didn't get torn apart by the little kids that were there. It's not 'baby proofed' yet. ha)

"Who you lookin at?"
and our family picture. Ty was hungry, so he wasn't gonna smile for the camera. :)
P.S. I made some changes with my hair on Saturday- if you can't tell from the pic. I added some bangs and got more BLONDE!

9.24.2009

Pee

Ty pee'd on the wall. I thought I was doing pretty good since Ty hadn't ever pee'd when his diaper was being changed. Well, it's happened now. Who was I fooling?

Love affair with the devil

My Handsome Devil
I just love this little man so much. He has become a lot more alert now and smiling all the time. He even smiles to me in the middle of the night before I feed him. What a goof.

I attempted to get his big cute smile on camera, but got 3 different ones that aren't his biggest and cutest... but they're still pretty darn cute.

Yesterday I went for my first run post-baby. I strapped Ty in the jogging stroller, wrapped him snug in a blanket, and headed off. He slept the whole time. The run went okay, considering I hadn't run since May or June, but I have a lot of hard work ahead of me in getting back to where I was pre-baby. It felt so good to wake up with some sore muscles. Oh I can't wait to get to the gym. I just hope I keep up this motivation I have going for myself. :)

Ty

Something really gross happened today.
It seems like mostly every time I am feeding Ty, he either passes gas or passes poopy. And when he has to do either of these, he stops eating and just sits there until it's over. Well, this morning I was feeding him, and he pulled away and paused for a second. I knew he was going to do one or the other, so I just waited for it to happen. Suddenly he poops... a lot... for a long time, and it comes ooooozing(that's about the color of the poop too) out of his diaper, oozes onto my hand and my pants. Yuck!

On the other hand, he smiled at me for the first time a couple days ago- on Saturday. It was so cute. I loved it. We can still get him to smile at us, but it's always right after we feed him. When he's full and satisfied.
Another thing about Ty is that he gets the hiccups maybe two or three times a day. And he has them for so long it gets him mad, so he starts crying. I wish I knew how to get rid of them, but he just has to wait it out. Poor guy.

A lot of people told me when I first delivered Ty that if I just got through the first 6 weeks then everything will be ok and easy/ier. After 4, almost 5 weeks, I now know what they mean. I feel a lot more comfortable and less stressed about taking care of Ty. My mom told me I may have feelings like What did I get myself into? Why did I have a baby? and that sort of thing... and I definitely had those feelings. The first 2 weeks were full of stress, crying (not the baby), sleepless nights, confusion, pain & exhaustion. It was hard to imagine it would get better. Fortunately I had my mom and sister there during that time, so I had support while I was going through it. But now I feel like I understand my baby a little more and feel more confident in what I am doing. Ty is the cutest, sweetest baby and I am so grateful to have him. I love his little face, his smile, grunts, whimpers, cries, little nose, ears, lips, hands & feet, his skinny legs, and his many cowlicks in his hair. He is just delicious!
silly face - he just woke up from a nap
So, I would always get kind of sick of people who blogged all about their baby and nothing or no one else. They just had millions of pictures of their baby over and over again. Yeah- now I'm doing it. So sorry. I do try to update about other things, but we just don't have much else going on besides raising this babe. I'll try harder. Maybe.

crickets

I know I've expressed my almost phobia of crickets because of how many there are around and in our house. It's just getting out of hand here. I think I now have a phobia of crickets. I find at least 3 crickets in my house every single day, and every time I see one I get really anxious and jumpy. I hate having to throw them away, so if Paxton is ever home I have him do it. I don't like picking them up with a tissue because I can still feel the hard body and legs. Paxton grabs them with his bare hands! Eww. I still look down when I'm walking around the house keeping an eye out for them in every corner. They are everywhere. Because of the rain we've been getting, we have about 10x more in our garage. Gross.
Well, off to run some errands.

Football

Put these two pictures together and you get the Texas Stadium. Nice panoramic pic eh?

We went to the BYU/OU football game last Saturday night. Paxton's sister, Heather, was nice enough to watch Ty for us while we went. THANK YOU HEATHER. It was a little hard to leave him, and leave him for so long, but I did it. It was nice to have a night with Paxton.
We aren't really big BYU or OU fans since we went to BYU-Idaho, but we still rooted for BYU of course. We mainly went to see the new Texas Stadium. It was pretty amazing! The huge HD big screen in the middle of the field was the coolest part. It was hard not to watch that instead of the real players on the field. Anyway, it was a really fun night. A little long to be away from Ty, but I made it.
the huge HD screen
the players celebrating after the game! Whoohoo- go BYU.

4 Weeks

Ty is 4 weeks old today! I don't know how much he weighs or if he's grown in length, but it doesn't seem like he's gained much. I sure hope he has. I promise- I'm feeding him. He is still so small. I can tell he is growing and changing in his face though.
This is what he wore today. Look familiar Ann?? YaYa got this outfit for Ty on our vacation in Florida. I love it. I just want to eat him up.
We ran several errands today, and even met up with Paxton for lunch. By the time we got home, Ty was exhausted because he couldn't take a really good nap in a car seat. He loves driving in the car, but I think he got sick of the car seat after being in it for 4 hours. Poor guy. He crashed when we got home.
Ty looks a lot like Paxton as a baby in this picture, minus the goobers in his eyes. Those just won't go away.

1st day at Church

We took Ty to church last Sunday for the first time. He was good. He slept most of the time. I think he liked the new atmosphere. It seems the noise from the crowds put him to sleep. We'll see how long that lasts.
But he did look especially cute since he wore a little collared shirt and dress pants.

I caught him smiling while he was sleeping. He smiles a lot bigger than this, but this is what I got. One of these days I want to record him when he's sleeping because he makes all these silly faces and then gives the occasional grin. He even laughed one time- it was so cute.

Katie came to visit for about a week. She recently got back from her mission, and this was the first time I had seen her since she'd been back! It was lots of fun to have her here to see the baby and help out. She, of course, loves Ty to pieces. hehe- Who wouldn't? She already claims the title Ty's Favorite Aunt. She had the magic touch in getting Ty to sleep, so I let her do it a few nights. Hey, it let me get some sleep myself.

...and these are just for pleasure's sake

I am getting used to running on less sleep and having to wake up in the middle of the night to feed him. But that doesn't mean I enjoy waking up at 3 am. Mostly every night at 3 am, as I am nursing Ty, I look over at Paxton with envy. He always looks so peaceful and rested. But I try to get my sleep in during the day while Ty is napping. It works.
Well, that's been my life the past 3 weeks. Yep, Ty is already 3 weeks old! And his facial features have already changed. He looks older and more handsome every day. We just love him to pieces.
