1 month

Emery will be 1 month old tomorrow. It's been fun for me to look back at pictures of Ty at her age and compare looks and growth. Emery is her own little self, with not many characteristics of Ty. I'm excited to see what she'll look like as she gets older.

These days, Ty loves to wear my shoes and walk around in them. He loves to wear any shoes... he will have shoes on, go get more in his closet, and ask me to put them on him. I try to explain that I can't get them on over his shoes, and that he already has shoes on. He just loves shoes. Isn't that what girls are supposed to love?

I am not worried about that. As much as he loves shoes, he loves his TRUCKS, CARS, & TRACTORS even more. We have about a gazillion around the house and he plays with each and every one. At bed time, the most popular books we read are all about trucks. He makes the sound effects, and can point out a tractor or semi from a mile away. I love my boy.

Emery sleeps pretty well at night, except for the grunting, but that's another story. But I think she really likes sleeping in our bed. I snapped this shot one morning, then was reminded of a picture of Ty when he was about the same age.
This is Emery...
... and Ty. So cute.

Ty likes sitting in whatever chair Emery is not. He's a good big brother, always keeping Emery company. He likes bringing her toys and stuffed animals, and giving her kisses. So sweet.
We went on a walk this morning in the cold weather. We got all bundled up for the ride. I wanted to try out our new double stroller that YaYa got for us!! Thanks again YaYa! We had lots of fun, and I know the kids & I will be enjoying this stroller for a long time!

My piano man. He loves to "play" the piano. It's pretty impressive actually how he moves his fingers, playing 1 note at a time, like his Mommy. Then he quickly proceeds to pound at the keys... like a normal 15-month old. (Don't mind our awesome piano "bench.")
We are enjoying our two adorable little kiddos. They keep us busy, but that is good. I am getting excited for the holidays, and spending time with family! My parents are coming for Christmas! It will be so fun for them to see Ty & Em, and celebrate Christmas Texas-style.

halloween!

Just a few pics of Emery. She is growing and changing every day. She loves lounging on her bouncer chair and swing.
I realized that I haven't taken nearly as many pictures of Emery as I did of Ty. That's how it goes I guess. I'll try to be better. This will do for now.

Paxton took Ty out to trick-or-treat in his Peter Pan costume. He stopped by our neighbors house who hooked him up with a full size candy bar! They went to about 10 other houses then came home. But Ty loved it! He was really friendly with everybody and loved carrying his little bucket around.
Before trick or treating, we were at some friends' house, so when we got home, we quickly threw on his costume and headed out the door. We didn't get the right pants or shoes on. And he wouldn't wear his hat, which tops off the whole costume... oh well. He is still pretty darn cute!
He dumped out all his candy once he was home. I remember doing that when I got home. I would sort everything out in piles and count how much I got.
Yum!

Lately I can't get enough of this cute little guy! He makes the cutest faces, scrunching up his nose and smiling. I tried getting a picture of it, but it came out blurry. He is picking up more words, and repeating words we say, even when we're not talking to him. He is a smart little booger. I just love him.

here's the story...

I went to the hospital Wednesday morning at 6:00 am to be induced. After all the waiting, getting me in a delivery room, & questioning, it was about 7:30 when they started the pitocin. At that point I was only dilated to a 1. After about 3 hours of contractions, I got an epidural. By that time I was at a 3. In 1 1/2 hours I progressed to an 8. And 30 minutes after that was at a 10. The nurse had me do a practice push to see if I was going to be pushing for a little while or if we needed to call my Dr. right away to deliver the baby. After one push, she said, "Stop! I'll go call your Dr." The Dr. said he'd be there in 20 minutes, so we waited. When he got there, I started pushing. Two contractions and 5 pushes later, Emery was born!

Everything about my delivery was amazing! I was so surprised and happy with how fast and smooth everything went. I was comparing everything with Ty's delivery, which was 16 hours of labor and 1 hour of pushing! I'm thinking I'll induce every time.... who knows how many times that will be. I don't even want to think about it. It won't be for quite a while!!!

It took Ty a few days to adjust to having a baby in the home taking the attention of Mom & Dad away from him. He was super fussy and clingy, getting frustrated with every little thing. But he is doing much better. He loves little Emery and always wants to give kisses and watch her. He is going to be a sweet big brother.
YaYa has been a big help here! She has taken off the week to take care of Ty while I take care of Emery and get some rest. She has Ty's schedule full of fun stuff to do. He loves spending time with his YaYa.

trucks

Last weekend we went to the Peterbilt Open House at the plant. We were able to walk through the plant, see a bunch of cool Peterbilt trucks, and enjoy yummy BBQ. It was lots of fun, and a perfect, free activity for a Saturday with all the family.
Ty was in heaven with all the trucks around him. He loves wheels. So he would walk up to every truck and just stand and touch the wheel. I think he'd be perfectly content if he could just stand at a wheel all day and touch it. Silly boy.

At the end of the day, there was a bike stunt show. There were 4 guys on bikes, and 1 on rollerblades. It was amazing! I was nervous at first, but once I saw how good they were, I relaxed a bit. It was a really exciting show. Ty was mesmerized by it all.

my latest projects

I am definitely in the "nesting" mode. I've been keeping myself busy with project after project, and still have about 5-10 more I'd like to do. I feel bad that most of the projects don't have a lot to do with the new baby, but with the house. I am wanting to make some baby leggings, bows, onesies, and curtains for the baby's room, but haven't gotten around to it yet. And I'm not sure what I'll get around to before the baby comes since there are only 9 more days til she will arrive! I am just wanting to relax as much as I can, but then my mind gets going on things I want to make and get done.
Anyway, here are some pics of what I've been up to.
I found this huge mirror at a garage sale for $10! It had a white frame, so I painted it black to go in our kitchen. It makes the room seem bigger and brighter! I love it!

Made this scarf, using the tutorial found here.
Made Ty's Halloween costume from the tutorial found here. She called it a Peter Pan costume, but I always think Robin Hood when I see it. I think he needs a green hat to make it Peter Pan.

A book wreath made from the tutorial found here.

Here is our baby girls' nursery. Don't mind the clutter on the dresser and floor. I'll get it cleaned up soon. But I made the bedding, which was a long process, but fun. I also made the clock above the dresser. That tutorial is found here. I didn't get a close up shot of the clock- sorry. And the paintings were a gift from Paxton's mom, which go perfectly in the room!!! I just love it! Thanks Ann!

And this is the final project that's been keeping me most busy! He is just a crazy boy. We wrapped him up in this blanket like a burrito. He thought it was hilarious, but quickly wriggled out of it.
And then finally, a 38 week belly shot. I have just 9 days left. I am being induced on the 20th, if all goes well. It has come up so quickly, that I am suddenly nervous and stressed that it's just around the corner. Yikes! We are excited to meet our little girl.

10/6/06

Today is our 4 year anniversary! It has been the best four years of my life, and I know it will only get better!
Paxton is a better husband and daddy than I could ever ask for. He got up this morning super early, so that he could make me breakfast, and make his own lunch, before he left for work at 6:45am. He is such a thoughtful, kind, and patient person.

He is a wonderful daddy to Ty and baby girl. Ty just adores him. Last night, Ty was following right behind him as Paxton was walking around, talking on the phone. Ty always want to be around his Daddy. I'm afraid our baby girl is going to be Daddy's girl too.

I love you Pax. Happy Anniversary!
