Party!

Finally, for the update on Ty's 1st Birthday Party! I have been busy sewing baby girl's crib bedding, so my mind has been focusing on that. I still need to sew the skirt, but the bumpers are done! What a relief. Once that's all set up, I'll be sure to take pictures of the final product! I'm excited about it!
SO, Ty's party was so much fun! We had family come over to celebrate with cake, ice cream, and presents! First of all, Ty got so spoiled with all his gifts! He got loads of BOOKS! A few stylin' new outfits, a couple toy trucks that teach numbers, colors, animals, etc, a monster tractor and a castle playground for outside, which is still in our living room!!! He loves it all! He loves to read and flip through all the new books. He loves to climb up and slide down the castle playground, and loves to push around his trucks and tractor! He has been one happy boy these days! THANK YOU to everyone who gave such wonderful gifts! They're all perfect!
One hand on each truck!

After opening presents, we moved on to the CAKE! It was a battle getting Ty to sit down to eat cake because he wanted to play with all of his new toys. He's crying in some of pictures- poor guy. He didn't know what was next!!
His little "smash cake"
He wasn't too sure what to do with the cupcake, but with a little bit of YaYa's help, he figured it out.

He would not take his left hand off of a part of the cupcake. He left it there until he finished everything around him. We had to physically lift his hand up and wash it off once he was done. He didn't move it. It was so funny.

I made a car cake for the party, since Ty LOVES cars and trucks! I'm not showing any close up shots-- it's definitely a first-time car cake for me, with many mistakes. But I had fun making it. I had tried to make it red frosting, but ended up with pink. After wasting a whole tub of frosting, I decided to go for an easy color- blue.
Ty had such a fun night! I'm sure he loved that his cupcake was his dinner!
After our little party, we went to Ann & Steve's to swim in the pool and barbeque some food. Everyone had a great time!! Thanks for the memorable 1st Birthday Party!

And finally, a belly shot at almost 30 weeks. Oh yuck. I'm done being pregnant. This girl is SO active. She keeps me up at night with her movements and kicks, besides being kept up from peeing and just having a huge belly to deal with. 10 more weeks! That's it-- and hopefully SOONER!

Ty had his 1 year check up today. He is officially a toddler. The Dr. said he is such a friendly, sociable boy. He is developing normally and is very healthy!

Height: 31.75 inches - 90%
Weight: 21 lbs 15 oz - 25%

He is a really picky eater, and I've had a hard time switching to whole milk. He won't take a bottle at all anymore- even when I put mostly formula in. He won't eat a lot of what we are eating for dinner. He gets sick of the food I'm feeding him, so he won't eat a lot of one thing at a time. Any help for picky eaters would be great!

Ty doesn't like tissue paper or anything like it. So at the Dr.'s office, he didn't like being set down on the table with the paper they always have rolled out. Made for a little battle. He also didn't want to open his presents because of all the tissue paper. Silly kid.

He is teething AGAIN! We just got over his 2 front teeth, but he has been extra fussy and drooly. Shots at the Dr and teething combo does not make for a very fun day. But I still love him. Take a look at these pictures. More funny faces of Ty.

Ty is 1

Our baby is 1 year old today!

It's pretty amazing how fast the time flies. He is such a sweet, funny, smart, adorable, loving boy and we absolutely love him to pieces. There have definitely been good days and bad days, but it is all worth it! I can't imagine life without him.

At 1 year he:
says daddy, doggy, truck, thank you, mama, Yaya, hi, bye bye.
can stand by himself without holding onto anything.
has taken 2 little steps, then fell into my arms.
LOVES trucks, doggies, stuffed animals, being tickled by Mommy, being chased, kisses & hugs, when Daddy comes home from work.
eats almost anything. Loves his fruits, yogurt, breads. Not a fan of green beans, cottage cheese, plain potato, or eggs.
likes to go on walks.
claps when he hears other people clapping.
loves the Baby Einstein DVDs.
imitates any sounds, faces or words that are said/done to him.
and probably so much more.

He keeps me busy during the day. He is always on the go, and never likes to sit still. He loves to walk around while we hold on to his hands, or he uses his little walker. He is getting so close to walking! He is such a fun little man. WE LOVE YOU TY! Happy 1st Birthday!

We are having a birthday party this Saturday, so more pictures to come of his party and cake and presents!!!

Happy Birthday!!

Hey, this is Paxton. As most of you know, it's Abby and I's birthday today!! I know that I never post anything on the blog, but I wanted to get on and tell Abby how much I appreciate and love her. She treats me so well, supports me, and makes me laugh more than I could ever ask for. She is such a great mom to Ty and is handling being pregnant again very well.

Today, Abby and Ty surprised me and came to visit me at work. Not only that, but she brought my favorite: Dr. Pepper and 2 Snickers Bars. I was so excited, but it was so fun to see them during the day. After work, my mom and Steve took us to Macaroni Grill for dinner. It was really good and we both took home leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Thanks Mom & Steve!!

Anyway, Ty's 1st birthday is coming up on Thursday so we are excited about that too. Love you Abby!

Rascal Flatts!

Last Saturday, Paxton & I went to the Rascal Flatts concert! It was my first concert, and it was so much fun! I never have much interest in going to concerts, except if it's Rascal Flatts or Michael Buble'. And Buble is coming to Dallas, but the concert is on a Sunday- BUMMER!

Anyway, there were 3 artists (Kellie Pickler, John Rich & someone else) who performed before RF, and it took WAY TOO LONG! The concert started at 7:30pm, and RF didn't even get on the stage til 10pm! But it made it REALLY exciting once they finally did get on stage.

I came prepared with a pillow to wrap around my pregnant belly to muffle the sound. It was really loud, so I hope it worked some. It sure made me hot though! My next concert I'll make sure I'm not pregnant! I saw a few other pregnant girls there with no pillow, so I guess I was just playing it safe.
Those bandana things around are neck were cool, so it kept us cool during the night.
We had great seats! Thank You Ann! And we scored by having 2 empty seats next to me, so we could stretch out a bit.
We had a blast! I love Rascal Flatts!

Idaho trip

At the beginning of July, we went to Idaho to visit family for 2 weeks. Ty and I flew there separately from Paxton. We got there a couple days earlier and played with family in Utah. I will NEVER fly with the kids and without Paxton again! Never! It was just way too stressful. So not worth it.

On the flight there, I gave Ty some Benadryl hoping it would knock him out for the whole flight and it'd be a breezy trip. I figured it would work well because we were flying at Ty's nap time too. Well he played for the first 30-45 minutes, then got sleepy. He was fighting sleep, but finally gave in. But not for long. He only slept 30 minutes, when a guy behind us sneezed and it woke him up. He was cranky for the last hour of the flight. The Benadryl did not help the situation, but made it worse because he was still so drowsy, but wouldn't sleep. On the flight home at the end of our trip, it was even worse. I didn't give him Benadryl, but he still only slept for 20 minutes. It was the very first 20 minutes of the flight that he was sleeping, then the pilot came on the intercom and announced that we can get up from our seats and recline and all that. And that woke him up. He was okay and playing for 45 minutes or so, and then the last hour again, he was horrible. HORRIBLE. I wanted to cry on the plane with him, but held back. There was one point he was screaming his head off, and I was just sitting there, not able to calm him in any way. I tried food, drink, toys, pacifier. He didn't want any of it. So I just let him cry. I got a nasty look from the couple in front of me. They also had a baby, but it was much smaller. I just can't wait til that happens to them some day. They'll be getting the nasty looks. Sheesh! Once we landed, it took 30 minutes for us to get to the gate and get off the plane, because we were early, so there were no gates available for us to de-board. It didn't help that we were at almost the very back of the plane. Once we got off the plane, I walked quickly to baggage claim and found Paxton and Yaya there waiting for us. I handed Ty over and broke down. I couldn't help it. Pregnancy hormones, a restless 11 month old, and flying do not mix well.

Besides the flights, we had lots of fun spending time with the family. Ty was adored by all of his cousins, and they had fun playing with him. He loved having them around too. They were so good with him and let him grab toys out of their hands. Ty was pretty entertaining too. He has a funny personality. He is always making faces and doing crazy things with his lips.

While in Utah, we went to a late 4th of July parade. All the kids scored on candy! They each came home with a bag full of it... mostly taffy! We got some ourselves. Ty liked seeing some of the floats, but when any sirens were turned on from the fire engines and police cars, he got really scared and clung to whoever was holding him. They were really loud.

In Idaho, we were able to visit a few friends we knew from school, visit the campus, and relax at my parent's house. We watched a few movies in the theatre room, rode on the four-wheeler, sat by the river, went on several walks, played with Daphne the dog, crawled in the soft grass, and ate some yummy food. Ty LOVED the dog, and also LOVED the four-wheeler. He looks scared in the picture, but when we would take him off, he would get mad and want to get back on.

Daphne didn't have much interest in him. ha

He loves his cars!!

Driving with Grandpa and Grandma
We had a really great time! I was glad Paxton came this time. The past several times I've gone to Idaho, he hasn't been able to come. So it was fun for the family to see him and have him there to be with Ty and me.

Waiting at the airport to go home, Ty was watching these 2 kids playing. He thought they were so funny. I thought he looked cute.

Happy Weekend!

chompers

Ty's top 2 teeth have finally popped through! The left came through last Thursday I think, and the right tooth came through yesterday or the day before. He's looking pretty darn cute.

Within the last couple weeks he's been saying words that we can comprehend. He has said "mama" and "dada" for awhile now, but in the last couple days he has said "truck" and "doggy". He loves trucks/cars and dogs so it's not surprising. Paxton and I are fighting over what Ty's first word is, "Mama" or "Dada". He also mimicks everything we say or do. He is getting more and more fun each day, learning and understanding more.

just dance

Last weekend we went over to Paxton's sister's house for a Father's Day dinner, which was super yummy by the way. But after dinner we played a new Wii game they had gotten called Just Dance. It was so much fun and I couldn't get it off my mind for the next few days until I finally purchased the game myself. It's being shipped, so I don't have it yet, but I will soon!! If you get an opportunity to play it, do it! It's so fun, and a good workout!

While Pax & I were playing, Ty was gnawing on Katie Kat's shoulder and trying to get some kissies from her. Adorable cousins!!

Ty never wears shoes. Mostly because I can't get any on him. Whenever I try to, he curls up his foot so I can't slide it past his toes. Little stinker. So the only shoes we can get on him are baby crocs and these...
Aren't they just so cute though. He looks older with them on for some reason. I had him hang out in those all day, besides naps, to get used to wearing them. When I went to take them off, he started laughing and getting really excited to get them off.

Ty can crawl SO fast it's kind of scary. He can pretty much keep up with me when I'm walking. And the reason why it's scary is because it's not a normal hand/knee crawl. He spider crawls- on his hands and feet. He can speed across our kitchen floor in no time. I really need to get it recorded because it's so funny.
