Friends, Fathers, four-wheelers, and fun

A couple weeks ago, Ty had a friend over to play.  He is a little older than Ty, but they still found things to do together.  One of Ty's favorite games to play is garbage man on his chair.  The chair is the garbage truck and he stands on it, making sound effects.  He loved having his buddy there to play with him, and now every time he gets on the chair to play, he asks for him.

For Father's Day weekend, we went to Crockett, TX to visit Paxton's grandparents.  We love going out there because it's in the country and just relaxing and peaceful.  They have cows, four-wheelers, tractors, and good company... all of which Ty loves.   We had a great time!
Emery was an angel.  She loved it there, and loved her Gramps and Nanny.  They both gave her back rubs, and she just melted in their arms.

We had to get a 4 generation picture!  We have one when Ty was 3 months, and now another when he is 22 months!

A few other updates on the kiddies...

TY
  • He can count to 10.  In just the last few days, he will randomly start pointing and counting whatever is around him.
  • We also have been going to the pool a lot, and we can dunk him underwater, and he will hold his breath.  He loves it so much!
  • He has begun the terrible two phase.  His answer to almost everything is No.  He pushes, hits, and rolls over Emery, and never lets her have a toy in her hand if he can help it.  He can throw a good tantrum, screaming his lungs out. He won't let us read a book to him, he'll do it himself. He won't let us help him up on his chair, he'll do it. He is trying to be Mr. Independent.  Fitting for the upcoming holiday...  Instead of agreeing with and listening to what we say, he does the opposite, always.
EMERY
  • She is crawling everywhere now, which is good and bad.  She can get to her toys easier, but she always wants to be where I am.  She doesn't like to crawl on the tile, so she is very limited.  She'll learn some day.
  • I think she has a worse temper than Ty, which is very frightening.  I thought Ty was bad... man am I nervous for the next year or 2.  She is one feisty girl.
  • She can also count to 10 like Ty.  Just kidding... not even close.  But she has started babbling, saying Dada a lot.  Very cute.
I love my chillins more than anything!  They are so fun and adorable and perfect!  I am a blessed Momma.

Go Em go!

Yesterday, Emery took her first shuffles of a crawl. And today, she has crawled a little more! She is always up on her knees, rocking back and forth, trying to get somewhere. Pretty soon, she actually will get somewhere! Yikes!

Goodbye Paci!

Over Memorial Day weekend, we traveled to Louisiana to visit Pop! We had a good time swimming at the pool, eating out, and just playing at Pop's house.

After a trip to Costco, Ty unpacked all the paper towels and did this...
For awhile I've been wanting to take Ty's pacifier away. He has gotten so addicted to it, asking for it all day, and needing it constantly. I got sick of it. I knew each time I gave it to him, it was making it that much harder for him to give up. So yesterday, we finally got rid of it. Ty is obsessed with garbage trucks and anything to do with them. So I decided to have Ty give the garbage man his pacifier. Tuesday is garbage days, so we waited outside for them to come. We had his paci in a plastic bag ready to throw in the truck. After an hour of waiting, we went back inside and played for about 15 minutes. I heard the truck coming, so I quickly grabbed Ty and his paci and we ran up to the garbage man. We waved to the driver, and went to the guy in the back and told him we wanted to throw his pacifier away. He asked if Ty wanted to throw it in there. Of course he did, so he threw it in! Once the truck moved forward to another house, Ty realized that his paci was in there and started getting mad. He started crying, reaching for the truck, and asking for his paci. I kept explaining to him that it's in the garbage truck, the garbage man needs it and will take good care of it, he is a big boy who doesn't need a paci anymore, and all these things to calm him down. We watched the truck go all the way down the alley, while he was still throwing a little tantrum and just sad that couldn't have his pacifier. To get his mind off of it, we went inside and watched Cars.

This is the second day now, and he has only asked for it a few times, and only had 2 tantrums. It happened both times in the car, since he usually asks for it then. It's amazing how much older he looks now without a paci. He is going through a little growth spurt, and just has gotten so big. He doesn't look like a baby anymore, but a little boy.. if that makes sense. He has been so sweet lately too. I just can't believe he will be 2 in 2 months!

I also took the pacifier away from Emery yesterday. It was a lot easier to take it away from her, and she has done great without it! She didn't rely on it as much as Ty. I'm glad I did it earlier like this, so she didn't get attached to it.

I am loving not having to keep track of 2 pacifiers everywhere I go. It's so great!

Ty's Prayer

Ty said his first prayer by himself tonight. Here was his prayer:

"Mommy, Daddy, Babies....

Mommy, Daddy.

Temple, Temple, Jesus...

Mommy, Daddy, Babies...

Mommy, Temple, Yaya, Pop, Grandma, Grandpa...

Ummmm... Ummmmm... name Jesus, Amen!!"

projects

We've been keeping busy the past week with projects for Ty's room. It's been a lot of fun working on these with Paxton. He really enjoyed it too. I am so happy with the way everything has turned out.
First project was a little table and chairs set at IKEA. I painted it pastel turquoise and pastel yellow. The lighting is horrible because it was at night, but you can kind of tell. I painted the table top with chalkboard paint. I haven't introduced the chalk to Ty yet. I'm afraid to actually. If I teach him to draw on the table, I think he'll start drawing on the walls and furniture too.
He loved his table and chairs. He immediately started playing with it, moving the chairs back and forth, climbing on them, and driving cars on the table. That's where we said our prayers that night too. So cute.
The next project were these bookshelves. I found this site, and knew I wanted them in Ty's room. I love them! It was fun getting the material, sanding, painting and putting it together. Ty loves having the books out where he can see them all. And he likes putting them away too. I hope that lasts.

Ty is so cute, I can't stand it. He always says 'cheese' in front of cameras, so there's his smile above.
He loves his daddy, and can never get enough of him. The moment Dad walks in, he runs to him and never leaves his side.
Emery is so sweet and so good. She has become a more busy and squirmy baby. She hasn't figured out how to crawl or really even move her knees up or anything. She can't pull herself up on things either. I'm not pushing anything though. I enjoy her staying in one spot, while I chase the other kid. Still no teeth either.

A couple weeks ago, we gave Ty a mohawk. He looked pretty rad! Too cool for smiling that's for sure.

Paxton has a new job at Dell, working in the accounting department. He is really excited about it, and is enjoying it so far. We feel really blessed to have gotten this new job. Congrats Pax!!

Ty got a hold of a bag of cereal. He ate a lot....... and dumped the rest.

And I'm still here too. Busy with the babies. But here.

Ok, so I figured out how to upload videos from Youtube. Yay. Best part is the end... and Ty's comments. Check out sweet Emery.

sickies

Everyone in our house is sick, except me. So, we've been at home a lot.. taking lots of pictures.

Out to eat at a mexican restaurant, Ty's favorite kind of food.
Happy kids.

"what do you want? oh, a picture? CHEESE!"

She is always sticking out her tongue. So cute.

Emery got her 6-month shots and measurements yesterday. We've got another tall baby.
height: 27" 90%
weight: 16 lb 12.5 oz 70%
head: 16.5" 50%
I tried uploading a video of Emery talking and making sounds, but it never works for me! I ended up pushing Cancel after it trying to upload for 3 hours. Whatever. I'll try to do it on Youtube.
